Our process

Complimentary Assessment Appointment

As we are dedicated to providing the highest standards of care and maintaining our excellent reputation, we only work with clients who we can genuinely help.

When we meet someone who we feel wouldn’t benefit from chiropractic care we say so and refer them to another specialist if we think they might be able to help.

We offer an initial free assessment at our chiropractors in Solihull and Sutton Coldfield where we can talk about your symptoms and pain, and undertake a few tests to understand the cause of your issue. This will enable us to determine if chiropractic care may be suitable for you and if so, we recommend you arrange a full consultation with us as a next step. At the moment we are mostly doing this over the phone.

Consultation Appointment

  • The initial phase of the consultation is an information gathering exercise, which will take about 15 minutes, before you see one of our chiropractors.
  • We will then discuss your medical history and current health with you before undertaking a physical assessment.
  • During your physical assessment at The Chiropractors Sutton Coldfield or Solihull we may ask you to remove some of your clothing, apart from your underwear, and wear one of our gowns if appropriate. The gowns have an opening at the back to allow our chiropractors to see your back and neck clearly.
  • We will check your posture and conduct various tests to determine if it is safe to treat you, whether you need to be referred to another healthcare professional, and if you may need an MRI scan or X-ray.
  • Treatment does not usually start during this appointment – it is more of an assessment to determine the best next steps for you.

Report of Findings Appointment

During this appointment at one of our Birmingham chiropractic clinics we will advise you on the cause of your issue, what we can do to help, how long it may take, and any associated risks.

If you are happy to proceed, we will then start your care.

Regular Adjustment Appointments

During your appointments at The Chiropractors Sutton Coldfield and Solihull the main chiropractic form of treatment is adjusting your spine, aiming to restore full movement of the spine and its associated joints.

Different techniques can be used depending on the severity of your issue, as well as your age and general health. We will be as gentle as we can while still making the changes your body needs.

Your specific needs

Each patient’s symptoms, body, and health are completely unique, and this is reflected in our chiropractic care plan.

We don’t have a standard process or technique for lower back pain – we adjust our treatment plan according to the specific needs of each individual.

Techniques

There are many different chiropractic techniques, involving different forces, speeds, and instruments.

Each of our chiropractors are well-qualified, having been awarded a university degree in chiropractic care, and highly experienced, so they can implement the right technique for each patient, depending on their health, symptoms, and age.

Diversified
Technique

The diversified chiropractic technique involves looking for any vertebral misalignment by feeling the movement between the vertebrae and looking at the alignment of your pelvis and spine.

Any adjustments required are performed quickly but gently and may involve the use of an adjusting instrument to apply pressure in a very specific area.

Sacro Occipital Technique

We focus on the relationship between the sacrum at the bottom of the spine and the occiput, which joins the skull to the top of the spine.

When using the sacro occipital technique we often use padded wedges under specific parts of the body, and the adjustment is carried out gently, utilising the patient’s own weight and gravity.

Koren Specific Technique (KST)

The Koren specific technique is a very fast yet gentle adjustment suitable for all, including babies and the elderly.

We check the whole body for any misalignments by gently touching parts of you, before adjusting the vertebrae using a gentle tapping motion with an adjusting instrument.

Thomson Technique
(Drop Technique)

When using the Thomson chiropractic technique, we use a special bench which has specific sections that can be slightly raised.

When we apply a very small force to the body the raised section drops down an inch or so and stops very suddenly – this rapid deceleration applies a very fast, controlled, and gentle force to help restore normal movement to the joints.
